Linking ancient myths with the modern MIT and with TIM's human body and brain
According to some schools of Greek Literature and mythology, the nine MUSES were the daughters of Mnemosyne, the goddess of Memory, and of Zeus, king of the Olympian gods. Translated into modern concepts, we may understand that within each of us, our, let's say, mnemonic genetic system has innate potential that we may and likely should develop, whereas we could see Zeus, the lightning throwing King, as our Vital Energy, called the Ki, within Chinese medicine. Thus through us, we me say that the Ki expresses itself enneagonally, through nine different channels, talents, Muses, as suggested by Ancient Greeks, or Intelligences, as proposed by our contemporary profesor Gardner, in his Multiple Intelligences Theory, MIT, nearly four milleniums later...

Muse
Polymnia,
|
with
many thoughts, is often depicted with
a pensive look; therefore, the logico-mathematical
Intelligence befits her. In Greek,
mneiða,
pronounced "mni'-ah", means mention, remembrance, remember, think.
So, logically, Polymnia relates well to the brain, more particularly to the left frontal lobe, which we use when we think. ponder, planify... In 's module 02 you planify and build and also learn Web's History.
To Polymnia, the color WHITE...

Calliope, as
in calligraphy,
and as in optikos,
is the Muse of Visual Spatial
Intelligence;
here, she stands in front of a circle holding a rectangular wax tablet
and a pen. Thus Calliope relates to the eyes, which are partly controlled by the occipital lobe, at the back of the brain; neurologists discovered that we have a visual spatial memory and may build neuronal maps within our brains. In 's module 03, you here build a personal and efficient Navigation system, and that with JavaScripts, Paint, or xHTML To Calliope, the color purple...

Clio is the Muse of verbal
linguistic Literary Intelligence,
since Clio introduced the Phoenician
alphabet and is most often presented as the Muse of History.
Clio relates with the eyes, because we use them when we read and write; sligthly lower from the eyes, Clio also links with the throat, the ears and the mouth, which we use to speak and listen. In 's module 04, you here build a Short Story in the Wiki. To Clio,
the color blue....

Erato
is the Muse of rhytmical musical
Intelligence
and is represented playing the lyre. Erato
is the Muse of lyric poetry, thus of Songs. The
rate is the speed at which something
occurs. Thus, Erato relates with the lungs and the heart, because we use our lungs to sing and because the heart is a fine metronome. In 's module 05, you here build a Sonnet and /or a Triplet of Haïkus, and also learn how to build tables with HTML. To Erato, the color green... |
Thalia, (the
liar?), is the Muse of Socio
Interpersonal Intelligence, since sheoften is depicted
holding a comic mask, and as the muse of comedy. She also
handles
a shepperd's hook, quite a gregarious symbol. Thalia relates with the stomach and liver, since she's sometimes related to epicurian pleasures; it is commonly known that Interpersonal relations greatly affects digestion. In 's module 06, you here present a friend in a Wiki p@ge; you continue to experiment with XHTML and Wikini Formattings. To Thalia, the colorYELLOW...
|
Melpomene,
as in melodrama, a story or play in which people's emotions are
exagerated,
is the Muse of dramatic tragical emotions and thus brings us deeper
into
ourselves, within the realm of intra
personal
Intelligence. By deduction, Melpomene relates to the intestinal region, thus yet lower than the liver and stomach. In 's module 07, you here build a Web p@ge that will lead to your already existing BLOG(s). You'll practice the use of more HTML. To Melpomene, the color
ORANGE...
|
Euterpe,
as in uterine, or euthérien (French), the pleasure
giver,
according to some sources, is shown playing a double flute; she uses
both
her hands and thus relates well with the
naturalist
Intelligence. Euterpe relates to the hands, thus to dexterity: Naturalist Intelligence is related to the parietal lobes, which also control dexterity. In 's module 08, you here build a PowerPoint presentation so as to present an "ecological team". You'll also learn how to publish that ppt into your Google Sp@ce. To Euterpe, the color
RED...
|
Terpsichore,
as in choreography, the inventing of steps and movements for ballets
and
other dances, is the Muse of Dancing; she thus clearly rules the realm
of Physical Kinesthetic Intelligence. Terpsichore links with the whole body, but especially the legs. The parietal lobes and the cerebellum control equilibrium and dance. In 's module 09, you here reinvest what you learned during the Project so as to sh@re how you "honor" Terpsichore. To Terpsichore, the color BLACK...

Djeault
linked the Muse Urania
, as in Urantia, with Spiritual
Existential
Intelligence, because Urania is
often represented pointing or looking upwards: she is the Muse of
Astronomy
and Universal Love. Although modern neurologists haven't quite identified which part of the brain controls Spiritual Intelligence, Gardner advocates that signs of such Intelligence are witnessed. Thus Djeault suggests the axiom that Spiritual Intelligence may be based in the Sacrum and that from there she may nurish all other Intelligences. In 's module 01, you here build your Home p@ge, which will welcome the tr@vellers who will visit your Web Sp@ce. To U r a n i a, all 6 basic
colors...
